Company History

1966

Stanley Martin Homes is founded by Martin Alloy and Stanley Halle. The first neighborhood, Sunset Hills, was built in Capitol Heights, MD.

Stanley Martin breaks ground on the first neighborhood in Northern Virginia, Reflection Place.

1983

After decades of new home communities, Stanley Martin’s first master planned community, Northlake opens. It is the largest in company history.

1996

First Heritage Mortgage is founded to provide mortgage solutions to homebuyers.

1998

Steve Alloy is named the President of Stanley Martin Homes. Stanley Martin Custom Homes is founded.

2004

First Excel Title is founded serving Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C.

2010

Stanley Martin becomes one of the Top 50 largest homebuilders in the U.S.

2013-2014

Stanley Martin enters the Charlottesville, Raleigh and Richmond markets.

2017

Stanley Martin joins the Daiwa House Group to continue its expansion strategy.

2018

With the acquisition of the assets and operations of FrontDoor Communities, Stanley Martin enters the Atlanta and Charleston markets.

2020

With the acquisition of the assets and operations of Essex Homes, Stanley Martin enters several markets throughout the Carolinas.

2021

Stanley Martin is named National Builder of the Year by Builder Magazine.

With the acquisition of the assets and operations of Avex Homes, Stanley Martin enters the Orlando markets.

Stanley Martin joined the Daiwa House Group in 2017. Daiwa House is one of the largest real estate and development companies in the world. With their support, Stanley Martin has been able to expand into new metro areas as part of a national expansion strategy.

As Stanley Martin grew to one of the largest homebuilders in the U.S., we also expanded by investing in businesses to help better serve homebuyers. With our preferred mortgage company and partnerships with a custom homes and title companies, it is our goal to ensure a smooth transaction for every home buyer.
