Giving Back to our Communities
Stanley Martin supports organizations and causes that impact the people and communities in which we build. Giving Back is an important part of our culture and we are committed to supporting local organizations year after year.
Over the past 56 years, Stanley Martin Homes has achieved many milestones. The Washington Business Journal recently listed Stanley Martin Homes as the #2 home builder in the Metro DC area, something we are extremely proud of! And recently, with the help of our business and trade partners, we have expanded our reach to seven states along the East Coast, with plans for even more growth in the coming years. Our success would not be possible without the people and communities in which we build.
We support many organizations here at Stanley Martin and our employees are dedicated to many local causes. Through our Giving Back initiative, we hope to inspire others to take action, get involved and donate to local organizations that are near and dear to us.

Our participation in #GivingTuesday has been a huge success each year! Along with the gifts that were collected, our team also donates to local charities, including:
We are excited to announce that we have built our very first playhouse!
A team from Stanley Martin and four trade partners spent the afternoon building a custom playhouse in Winchester, Virginia, as part of the “Project Playhouse” program for Kids Club, with HomeAid Northern Virginia.
This new playhouse will now provide children - at The Kids Club - with a place to explore, play, imagine, and grow with a space of their own. We can’t wait to see the finished space once the playground equipment is installed!
HomeAid Northern Virginia is an organization that connects regional builders and housing industry professionals with non-profits focused on ending homelessness. We have been partners since their founding in 2001, and we strongly believe in their mission to ensure that everyone has a safe and stable place to call home.
Habitat Chesapeake hosted our Annual Women Build event where we welcomed more than 50 volunteers from Wells Fargo, Aerotek an Allegis Group company, Stanley Martin Homes and Harkins Builders. This build hits close to home for us, as 85% of Habitat Chesapeake families are female-headed and most affected by the lack of affordable housing opportunities. This made it all the more meaningful to host volunteers and hear some special remarks from female leaders of Habitat Chesapeake including Lauren Hughes, Director of Homeowner Services, who touched on our hardworking partner families and Kim Sherman, Board Member Chair, who spoke on Habitat’s dedicated work in 18 communities across the Chesapeake region!
More than 20 volunteers from the Blue Ridge Home Builders Association joined a dozen-plus volunteers from the Crozet Trails Crew to design and build a handsome, sturdy staircase from Birchwood Hill Rd. down to the Creekside Trail in Old Trail. This BRHBA service project, coordinated by BRHBA President Christopher Brement of Bramante Homes and BRHBA past President Jeremy Swink of Stanley Martin Homes, represents the epitome of community collaboration, involving nearly 100 hours of volunteer work and $3,300 worth of donated materials. In addition to the staircase, workers smoothed out the trail, spread gravel to ameliorate muddy stretches, and reseeded and covered the hillside with straw.
Stanley Martin Homes had the opportunity to partner with HomeAid and 15 other trade partners to renovate one of Shelter House’s Affordable Housing units for Faith and her family that was in dire need of repair. The $60,000 renovation was 100% covered and allowed the non-profit to redirect critical funding to continue to serve families and victims of domestic violence within Fairfax county.
Shelter House has a mission to prevent and end homelessness and domestic violence by engaging the community, building effective relationships, and providing crisis intervention, safe housing, and supportive services. We are excited to share that Faith and her family are happy, thriving, and on their way to self-sufficiency and independence!
