SPC Shaun Robey, US Army (Retired) enlisted in the military after completing school following in the footsteps of both his father and brother.

In 2006, while SPC Robey was in Iraq on deployment an IED explosion took out the truck he and his fellow soldiers were in. The explosion caused several severe injuries, one resulting in the amputation of his left leg.

SPC Robey was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart for his time in service.

Stanley Martin, in partnership with Helping a Hero, is building a specially adapted home for SPC Robey. The groundbreaking event that took place on Tuesday, September 13 was a celebration of the new home and featured performances from famed singer Lee Greenwood and local school children, speeches from participating groups including Columbia Division President Mike Cancilla as well as a special appearance from Challenger The Eagle.

A native of Georgia, SPC Robey, his wife Ashton and their children will be moving to the popular Lexington, SC neighborhood, Longview.
