My name is Stephanie and I've worked at Stanley Martin Homes for a couple years now. I've lived in Raleigh for about three years and absolutely love it here. There's never a shortage of things to do, day or night.
I personally love autumn in Raleigh- downtown Fayetteville Street plays host to multiple arts and music festivals, including Bluegrass Fest. Every first Friday of the warmer months, local businesses keep their doors open a little later to welcome art lovers on self-guided tours of the downtown area.
Last weekend, I met my friend for happy hour at The Raleigh Times, a restaurant/bar that took over the newspaper's former home. We relaxed on the rooftop area and enjoyed a craft brew while the sun sank behind the buildings. Eventually, we ambled our way to The Remedy Diner to meet some friends for dinner. Tucked on the corner of Hargett and Blount Street, this restaurant can be easy to miss - but not one you want to. Their menu is divided almost evenly among traditional, vegetarian, and vegan faire. Though a meat-lover myself, I couldn't pass up "The Groovy Train", a vegetarian sandwich overflowing with fresh vegetables, soft goat cheese and homemade balsamic vinaigrette or their vegan chocolate peanut butter pie (oh my!).
We decided to pick up the pace a little and, for just a few bucks, we Ubered to Clockwork, a lounge/bar offering a quick trip through time with bold, retro decor and signature twists on classic cocktails. Since the night had cooled down, the owners kept the garage-style front door open and people quickly trickled in as the DJ started his set. The electronic notes slowly rose in the background and we quickly lost track of time while meeting interesting people - some longtime locals and other recent transplants like myself. We had such a fantastic time!
