What should you buy?
You'll need charcoal or a propane tank, depending on the kind of grill you have. You'll also want to make sure you have the proper tools - tongs, a basting brush, tin foil, a grill brush, a spatula to flip those burgers and an apron if you're feeling fancy!
What should you cook?
Meat - Yum! Kidding of course, only slightly though. You'll want to have something for everyone, so get a mixture of everything. Burgers, steaks, ribs and hot dogs are a great place to start if you plan on having a lot of people over for your Fourth of July party.
But don't forget about the vegetarians - vegetables also taste amazing when grilled. You can pick up things like peppers, onions, squash and corn with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. This is where the tin foil will come in handy - vegetables cooked in tin foil on the grill taste delicious.
Do you need to clean the grill?
Yes, of course you do! Before you start cooking, you'll need to turn your grill up to the hottest temperature, that is going to burn the excess leftovers from last time then you'll brush it with the grill brush. Do a thorough job - you don't want your guests to taste what was on the menu 2 weeks ago!
Other things to know?
Make sure you're not packing your burgers too much - you don't want to be cooking a dry hockey puck. Your burgers should be 6-8 ounces and you'll need to make sure it will fit the bun. Remember to flip your burgers over once, and again once more. If you're looking to cook it medium - you'll want them on each side for about 4-5 minutes each.
Make sure you're prepared with condiments at the end so everyone has what they need to have a fantastic Fourth of July party!
