When you think of ENERGY STAR®, you probably think of home appliances. Did you know homes can be ENERGY STAR® certified, too? Offering more than just efficient appliances, certified homes integrate energy efficiency from the ground up. “The ENERGY STAR program is administered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). ENERGY STAR is a voluntary labeling program: EPA sets energy efficiency specifications and those that meet them can choose to display the ENERGY STAR logo*.” Homes are third-party tested, inspected and certified; and if a home meets those federally mandated energy efficiency guidelines, then it is ENERGY STAR® certified.
