When you think of Energy Star Ratings, you probably think of home appliances like refrigerators and dish washers. Did you know homes can be Energy Star certified, too? Energy Star Ratings are determined by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy. If a product meets federally mandated energy efficiency guidelines, then it is Energy Star certified. Homes that are Energy Star certified are sustainable for the environment.

The HERS Index, or the Home Energy Rating System, is the standard that energy efficient homes are held to. The HERS Index gives a score of how energy efficient your home is both financially and environmentally. Stanley Martin is committed to performing HERS testing in every division. In 2022, we've conducted this testing on over 900 homes in order to confirm our efficiency goals are being achieved and adjustments we can make to improve.
