There are simple tasks you should perform each season that will keep your home in top shape throughout the year.
WINTER
Change furnace filter monthly
Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
Keep gutters free of ice and debris
Clean aerators on faucets and shower heads
Re-caulk tile as needed
Inspect dryer vent for lint and debris. Rinse vent with soapy water
Test alarm system if applicable
Test GFCI receptacles
SPRING
Change furnace filter monthly
Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
Apply pest control
Inspect gutters
Clean carpet
Inspect air conditioning system
Check weather-stripping on doors
Oil garage door rollers
Seed and fertilize lawn
Rub wood cabinets with wood conditioner
Check exterior caulking around openings and trim
Seal granite countertops
Drain (2) gallons from hot water heater
Test sump pump (if applicable)
SUMMER
Change furnace filter monthly
Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
Condition decking
Make sure gutters are clear
Increase watering of shrubs and trees
Re-caulk tiles if necessary
Lubricate door hinges with silicone spray
Inspect joints in driveway, if concrete. Re-caulk if necessary
Test GFCI receptacles
FALL
Change furnace filter monthly
Check foundation for settlement and fill where needed
Check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
Clean fireplace and chimney
Clean gutters
Drain outside faucets and store hoses
Re-caulk tile as needed
Seed and fertilize lawn
Winterize sprinkler system
Test GFCI receptacles
Seal granite countertops
Drain (2) gallons from hot water heater
Test sump pump (if applicable)
